Review of Game Site

The game that i played was the Bill of Rights game. I thought it was a very educational game and i learned more about the bill of rights. I wish that the game was a little bit more fun and entertaining because for every question on the game was after a 5 or 6 minute video. For the Naturalization Test I got a 3/4 and I was most like William Paterson  when i took the which founder are you most like test.

Current Events Week 7

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/10/world/asia/philippine-high-court-suspends-contentious-internet-law.html?ref=world

Today the Philippines High Court suspended a controversial new law that could lead to imprisonment for those who sharing posts on social media such as Twitter and Facebook. This suspension is for 120 days only. The Cyber Crime Prevention Act had 15 petitions for it to be suspended before today. The law had given the government to block any website and track the web history of any web user. I agree with the decision to suspend the law because people should be able to do what they want on the internet with little interference form the government. This affects law in the US because this can be used as a precedent for the government to not monitor the internet as much and can deter the government from using laws such as this.

Magna Carta Project

The Magna Carta is one of the earliest know versions of written law. It was issued in Latin in the year 1215 in England. It was translated into French in 1219 and in the late 13th century it was reissued in modern versions. In 1225 The Magna Carta was passed into law. The purpose of the Magna Carta was to limit the power of the monarchs in England, the Magna Carta was also the first document forced onto a King of England by his subjects. The Magna Carta was part of an open rebellion against the king in 1215. The Magna Carta was forced onto King John by a group of Bishops, Barons, Abbots who were upset with the Kings higher taxes and unsuccessful wars. The purpose of the Magna Carta was to limit the power of the king. The Magna Carta is the foundation for English common law. When the Founding Fathers drafted the Bill of Rights and the Constitution they looked to the Magna Carta for historical precedent on how to write them. Without the Magna Carta our life in the U.S. would probably be very different. The Magna Carta was one of the only documents in the world that listed rights that the people wanted. The founding fathers used this as historical precedent and if the Magna Carta didn't exist they would have had no historical precedent to go by and that means the Constitution would be different and we would probably have a different set of rights as citizens if there was no Magna Carta than if there was one. Without the Magna Carta there would be no 5th amendment which says that No one will be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. By the second half of the 19th century nearly all of the Magna Carta's clauses had been repealed.

Current Events Week 6

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/25/technology/foxconn-plant-in-china-closed-after-worker-riot.html?_r=0

In China at the Foxconn plant there was riot. this is the factory that Apple is using for its new iPhone 5's. The riot involved over 1,000 of the 79,000 employees at the factory in Taiyuan. Over 5,000 police officers were called in the stop the riot. The Foxconn plant has been in the news recently for worker suicides and poor working conditions. The whole country of China has also been under scrutiny for its poor working conditions.
I dont really know what the conditions are like for this factory but if the conditions are that bad then these people dont really have to work there. No one is pointing a gun at their heads and telling them to work here.
